Last August 23, Vineesha Malkani of Google’s Adsense Publish Support wrote an entry in the AdSense about tips on handling AdSense checks.
Among other things, it informed readers that they need to ensure their bank does accept AdSense checks, which are issued from their CitiBank account, Adsense checks are only provided once a month, clearance period varies from bank to bank, and perhaps most controversial of all, the entry made clear that Adsense checks are for deposit only.
A WebProNews article, however, cited an incident where American MobileJones blogger Debi Jones was unable to encash her check due to “insufficient funds”. It was only through an intervention of another party that Jones was able to successfully complete her transaction.
As long as funds of the payer’s account are available and sufficient, a bank is not allowed to refuse encashing any valid check. The article hinted about a possibly unusual relationship between Google and Citibank that gave the Internet advertising giant the means to place such policies.
