If there’s one thing that SEO experts agree on then that’s the critical importance of content for online success. Thus, ask yourself the same question posed by Jeanette Cezanne in San Jose’s Search Engine Strategies Conference: “We all know that content is king in SEO; so…is your content a prince…or a pauper?”
For Cezanne, excellent content may be obtained by updating it regularly, focusing on its relevancy, creating “buzz-worthy” topics, having easily identifiable themes, and always answering the question “so what?”. It must also be oriented for both human visitors and search engine spiders.
For others, webmasters should first concentrate on writing what they know and love. Having a niche topic will give smaller publishers more and better competitive advantages against the Goliaths of the Internet. Building a community is equally important; people should focus more on developing a loyal readership base rather than a larger but fickle one. Lastly, they should also concentrate on creating unique content and take advantage of smart SEO-oriented layouts as well as supplementary web services and tools.
