Reports about people receive emails from AdSense about the coming shutting down of their AdSense accounts since they have an "unsuitable business model". According to the report, those who earn about $10,000 from these kinds of sites are the Google AdSense team's target.
A big uh-oh for those who over-optimize their sites, right? Will those with great content with over-optimized ads be affected, too? How would they know if a site is a spam site? Will they be all checking out the websites? There are millions or billions? of websites.
Whatever mechanism Google will use on tracking these sites is beyond me. But I'd like to quote this bit of advice from Joel Comm:
AdSense is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It's an opportunity. To make that opportunity work for you, you have to produce content that people want to read. If you can't do that, you'll need to pay someone to do it for you. If you can't -- or won't -- do either of those (and anyone can produce interesting content if they're prepared to put their mind to it), then publishing isn't for you.
Amen.
