Email scams are not at all new. They come in all forms and from all corners of the globe. They may or may not be tagged immediately as SPAM but nonetheless, their main purpose remains the same: to deceptively claim money from unsuspecting online users.
Lately, an Adsense email scam has been circulating the Internet containing the following details:
- The email starts with a threat disguised as a warning: it asks the recipient of the email to pay a certain amount of money in exchange of keeping his Adsense income safe from further harm.
- The sender is backing up his threat with details about "robots" that are able to hack into other people's Adsense accounts.
- The sender then adopts a conciliatory tone by explaining his urgent need for money. In most cases, the sender refers to himself as an inv
entor who has invented something special but requires funds to be able to create a model he can present to investors.
- The sender even provides a website address where all other details about his supposed invention can be found.
- The sender ends with a promise and another threat. If the recipient pays amount of money requested, the sender promises to return it as soon as his project is completed. If the recipient refuses to pay then the sender will proceed with his threat and close the recipient's Adsense account.
Even Jeremy Schoemaker, a popular Internet entrepreneur, had also received a similar email. Such email scams may seem obviously fake to many, but it can still successfully fool people who are easily threatened. People who receive the same email should report the incident to Google Adsense immediately.
