
Online ad service companies are widening the net they cast. From computers, inevitably the other device that people use to access the web - the mobile phone is also gaining more attention from online ad networks.
US and UK mobile users with cell phones that can be used for Internet surfing will soon be served with text ads from Yahoo! based on their search queries. Yahoo! Mobile Advertising is still retaining its pay-per-click model.
According to Yahoo!'s Steve Boomer in a press release:
"Our test deployments have been very successful, with strong advertiser demand and consumer engagement, which makes us very excited to bring our sponsored search listings to an even wider audience."
Microsoft has been reported to also offer something similar to what Yahoo! has launched but it's not yet tied with search, as of now Microsoft's text ads are served in e-mail.
