Ad placement for adsense buttons
Adsense buttons are quite unique because of its small size (125x125).    In most cases, this ad size fits perfectly at the sidebar area.    If you have a list of  links such as a blogroll or a recently posted articles area,   put this after it and match the colors so it blends nicely.

Another nice spot is inside the content with the content flowing around the ad.  An example would be like the one at problogger.net The button was placed at the upper right of the post.

If you're good at programming, you might want to find a way to put the adsense ad at the middle of the article.  That, I believe, would be the best blending technique.
