Many of us are not used to seeing this as we envision a dominantly white web page having a sudden black box with google ads on it. JackBurton2006's suggestion has a CTR of 8% to a high 10%-12% on a good day. Amnezia responded that he is averaging a 20% CTR on his white ads on black background site.
A good implementation of this technique can be found at cssheaven.com . The google ads on the lower right side of the page was blended beautifully. To an untrained eye, this could have been mistaken as a link to an inner page.
You may have to adjust your website template to blend with the ads instead of the usual blend your ads to your website.
