A great example is at dealofday.com Notice that both ads don't have borders and it is above the fold. Once people go to this site, their initial focus is directed almost entirely on those 2 ads. You have to be careful though as some of your visitors might get annoyed with having 2 ads and they need to scroll down to see the content.
